A walker has demanded authorities bring an end to the ‘dogging’ which has blighted Maidenhead Thicket for more than 20 years.

Electrician Paul Collins, 57, wants answers from police, councillors and the National Trust who he says have allowed the beauty spot to deteriorate into a no-go zone.

“I have walked that path since I was a kid and I am not going to give it up,” said the father-of-two, who was born and raised in Pinkneys Green.

“It’s been going on for 20 plus years and nothing has ever been done about it.

“It’s people coming from outside the town to ruin our Thicket. Why should we have to put up with it?”

The Natural Trust responded by saying it was working with Thames Valley Police and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council on a masterplan to bring an end to the dogging – and would unveil it next week.

Spokesman Geri Silverstone would not go into further detail but said patrols were likely to be stepped up.

He added: “We are the landowner but we can’t manage this issue alone.”

Police were unavailable for comment.

The Royal Borough confirmed it was in talks but would not comment on the plans.
